the burp is coming
4th watch God.
The other day I was having one of those days where its just hard to feel hopeful and happy. My inspired friend reached out to me on that day and called me until I answered. As I explained what was on my heart, she reminded me of the story in the New Testament of Christ’s disciples in the night storm. They persevered all night long until somewhere between 2 and 4 in the morning Christ came walking on the water.
Why does He come then? Perhaps we learn the most in the last hours.
We nearly missed the train to Milan. Shelby and I went to the bus stop an hour early to be safe. The first bus was delayed and when it finally came it was so full there were people pressed against the windows. The second bus never came. Twenty minutes before the train left we were still at the bus station and at this point it was too far to run there or we would have missed it.
After 30 minutes of waiting for buses, our hope was declining and anxiety was kicking in. We called our directors and they suggested grabbing a taxi or Uber but those would take too long as well. There seemed to be no way we would possibly make it on this train.
Shelby said a prayer out loud at that crowded bus stop and perhaps two minutes later a bus pulled up that wasn’t even scheduled that could even fit our suitcases.
We arrived just minutes before the train left.
Our prayer was answered, and we were safe, but since then I have been wondering why does He often wait until the 4 watch of the night? Is there something essential to be learned or experienced in the 1st 2nd or 3rd that would not happen if He came sooner?
There was definitely a moment where I felt like I had the choice to panic or the choice to have faith. The choice to choose fear or to trust.
I think I am learning that the time of waiting before the 4th watch is the time when faith becomes real and we have the opportunity to live what we believe. To turn towards Him rather than away.
Are we going to stay on the boat through the storm waiting for Christ to come? Or jump out of the boat?
My angel friend said that the fourth watch was just around the corner, miracles are coming.
The part that really lifted my spirits is when she sent me a pump up video saying that right now I am at the point right after you drink a fizzy soda and can feel the burp coming in your throat but is not quite there yet.
Hold on, the burp is coming :)
