the lights are off
I could not believe the vastness of the Casablanca Mosque
This is one of the few mosques that lets tourist into the area of prayer
I was in awe
It felt other worldly
A beautiful sign of their devotion to Allah
I found myself wandering from the tour group
Because laying on the carpet seemed very appealing to my achy back
As I gazed up at the ceiling
I noticed that In some ways the mosque felt similar to a Temple
With the architectural symmetry
And the simple natural symbols
The peace and spirit within the walls there felt familiar
But My mind couldn’t quite comprehend
There was something not quite parallel
Just didn’t sit quite right with my spirit
Then it hit me.
The lights were off
Our celestial rooms have big bright chandeliers reminding us of the brightness of the world to come
Theirs were not turned on
I think metaphorically this can be attributed to the absence of the Christ in this mosque
Christ as the Savior of the world
Rather than a prophet
He is the reason the future is bright.
When Christ is not present in our lives
No wonder it may feel like the lights are off
ps I think we should maybe adopt laying on the carpet in our Celestial Rooms ;)
